Just bought a new Macbook, old one had one built in, need an external one, only for private use so not expensive Apple one.

In theory any external drive would do the job, I've got a samsung drive similar to this one which has worked well for me on a windows machine.
However I have zero experience with Mac's, but that should, as I say, in theory do the job.0 -
One small problem here - if we're really talking about a new (2015/2016) Macbook, not a MacBook Pro or Macbook Air, it has precisely ONE USB-C port. No USB. So you need an adaptor, but once you do that any USB drive should do, any branded one should do, and should cost less than £20 for a DVD rewriter.0
