Van insurance refund?

My son uses a van for work and it is his own (not the firm's). In December he was involved in an accident and the other side has admitted liability and it is all being sorted out. They say that the cost to repair the van (a Ford Transit) will be about £4000 and they want to make him an offer for it to be a write off. They have asked him for a figure which he is pondering now.
My question is about the current policy which is due for renewal in October. Will he get any of the premium back? He paid it in full last October.
