its a fishing lake? have people been warned not to each any fish caught there recently?

I do hope the dogs who are being treated recover.

I believe people do course fishing there, but the lake isn't close enough to where I live for me to know it very well I'm afraid (I pass it once in a blue moon). I think the Environment Agency are testing samples of the water for contaminants at the moment so they may have something new to report soon. If there's something really toxic in the lake, I wouldn't hold out much hope of the fish being able to survive either :(

The incident was reported on LBC news earlier this afternoon so I thought it might be an idea to share, in case anyone here likes to walk their dog near the lake in the evening.

Latest report suggests that blue-green algae might be the cause of death of these poor dogs, although this report does seem to contradict itself in places. The EA is apparently continuing to test water samples but meanwhile, people are being advised to keep themselves and their dogs away from the lake until further notice.

  • Oh wow! So sad :( That's why we never let our dogs swim in lakes & beaches, only pools and with life jackets. I'm terrified of things like this... condolences to the pet's owners.

What with this and all the poisoning going on at the moment, I'm actually pleased that my dog's recall is selective & I don't let her off the lead. Sad world we live in where people deliberately leave poison for innocent dogs :-(
