Hi all
I'm after some advice please. My OH is a sole trader and wants to create a website for his business. It doesn't have to be anything fancy and he wants to do it as cheaply as possible.
All he is really after is a front page advertising his business and maybe a couple of sections for a gallery and reviews.
Could anyone advise us as to how to go about this please or recommend someone?
Thank you.

Wix.com
123reg.co.uk
Godaddy.com
Etc
They all do free basic sites with a domainEx forum ambassador

Thank you very much for the above suggestions.
Could you recommend any companies who would actually create the website, neither myself or the OH would have a clue?!
Thanks.0 -
If you only build simple site, you can consider asphostportal.com. As I know, their lowest plan comes with only $2.00/month. It is very cheap.... They are also reliable and I have good experience with them0

Hi Carrot Cake
I'd recommend Wordpress. They do free websites; all the free ones are a bit of a struggle to understand, but very satisfying when you do eventually! It's like solving a puzzle.
Apparently Google's search engine prefers Wordpress websites, you'll get higher up the rankings for your search terms than if you have a Wix or other website builder site.0 -
How much is cheap? I know a couple of freelancers but we're talking more than £150 you see.
Drop me a private message if over £150 is still okay.0 -
Hi
5GBfor Free
Also the templates thing is very very good.
A coupla builders you can play with are Blue Griffin and Komposer.
I hope this doesn't get me banned for pinching / breaching copyright.
If you right click your mouse on almost any web page you get a menu that says "View Page Source" and an example is below.
Find a simple site you simply like and...
Copy and paste, then view, then modify in Kompozer, then break etc etc. Endless fun for hours.
Childishly simple...

Speaking of copyright, in creating some branding by incorporating images from the web, how do you ensure you are not infringing any copyright?
There are so many legalities to be aware of, it would be great if this info could be found in one place - eg a function / price comparison table of each provider to make the right selection from the outset. I'd also like to know how simple it might be to change from one host to another and retain your IP.

There are several image libraries that you can get free images from that can be used for commercial purposes without attribution.
Pixabay is one such place. You don't get the selection you would with somewhere like Shutterstock where you buy licences to use images, but for a small business there's enough of a selection for most industries. She would always like to say,
