Removing Tobacco Stains from Carpet

what's the best thing for getting tobacco marks out of a carpet.

No - those nasty little grey marks where ash has hit the carpet.

In the days when my X smoked and knocked an ashtray over, it worked for me

Well if you catch 'em early - but these are left overs from parties and they've left little grey marks.

I get you now,the best thing to do is spray with a bit of weak hydrogen peroxide then gently work into the stain/grey area with an old soft toothbrush ,then blot with a dry cloth.

Or do the same with a small amount of washing-up liquid watered down............the grey bit is just the ash ingrained deep into the pile..............it should come up again.
