Bristol - inspiration needed

Options
My lovely husband has booked us 2 nights in a 4 star hotel in Bristol in July for our wedding anniversary. I know its in the town centre and it has a spa, pool etc. Lovely thought on his part and I know he has booked a restaurant. I would like to surprise him with a lovely day out while we are there but I would like to find something different to do anyone got any suggestions please.

I'm not sure which dates you're staying, but there's the Harbourside Festival 15th - 17th (http://bristolharbourfestival.co.uk/) and a few other festivals on, meaning you'll likely walk around and find various things happening (you can search them here http://visitbristol.co.uk/whats-on/festivals). I'm actually thinking of taking a day trip for the Harbourside Fest as I went two years ago and it had a great atmosphere, though it does get incredibly busy.

The boats are a good idea, which has been mentioned. There's the Clifton Suspension Bridge (http://www.cliftonbridge.org.uk/) - I've not been but I'd like to go, though I don't think it's really walking distance from the centre/harbourside.

There's an aquarium on the harbourside, as well as the free M Shed. Or if the weather's nice you could take a long walk around different places to spot Banksy paintings.

The museum is, I think, pretty good, and free to enter.

This website has a list of other attractions and things to do in case you need more inspiration : http://visitbristol.co.uk/things-to-do/attractions

I took Mum to Bristol for her 80th, I agree with the zoo and the river front, but her favourite day out was pottering around Bath, 15 minutes on the train and going for tea at the Pump Rooms while a (small) orchestra played
