Are motorcycles allowed to drive between lanes?

Of course not, but you knew that wasn't what I was referring to.
Yet you chose to quote me even though the reference to traffic already doing 70mph within the same post was a masive clue as to the sort of road I was referring to.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Here's your post.interstellaflyer wrote: »Filtering is perfectly legal and in slow or near stationary traffic I will move over to the left of the inside lane slightly to give the motorcyclist more room. However, the guys that speed down between the 2 lanes when the outside lane is moving at 70 are just morons and are likely to become another statistic.
Your second sentence makes no reference to the first or vice versa. Perhaps if you reversed the sentences then it would have been clearer that you were referring to a 70mph dual carriageway {which of course foolhardy pedal cyclists can and do use} or a motorway.0 -
a biker waved his fists at me for changing lanes in front of him. I indicated 3 clicks, he wasn't dropping back or progresssing I assumed he was giving me the go ahead to change over. Well it turns out the guy was filtering and wasn't paying attention. Then drives by waving his fists and shaking is head - meanwhile he is still filtering and looking back at me as he waves his fists.0

No one likes a pedantic smart @rse The OP mentioned especially motorways in his opening post and most replies have been in reference to motorways and dual carriageways and I am not the only person that mentioned pulling over slightly to allow the motorcyclist more room.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Quite agree, hurry up and get your grease paint on, the Wednesday matinee at the circus starts at 2.00pm and you're expected.:D0 -
It's common now for me to see motorcyclists filtering on the motorway when traffic is still moving at a reasonable pace. Seen them doing it through 40/50mph traffic.
When traffic is stationary or moving at 5mph or less i think it's fineAll your base are belong to us.0 -
My cousin was driving in the left land lane, had lane hogger in the right hand lane (no middle lane). Drove normal and undertook, got pulled over by Police for it and got a cautionary warning.
That's a bit unfair, and soemthing I would do not infrequently.
Undertaking is changing lane, if you're driving continually in the same lane then it's the middle lane hogger that's in the wrong, though obviously depends on traffic conditions and distances involved.0 -
On my advanced bike test, I was told (by a Class 1 police motorcyclist) that his rule of thumb for filtering was 1. traffic must be doing 20 mph or less, and 2. speed differential must be 20 mph or less. Even that is a bit much for me. I will filter in stationary traffic but if it's moving I tend to tuck in and be patient, unless there is a golden opportunity to move ahead, in which case it is rude not to.
I've been blocked by car drivers in this country several times, when they deliberately moved into my path to block my progress. Annoying, but I'll live with it. By contrast, I was in a major traffic jam on the motorway going round Antwerp (possibly 15 miles of stationary traffic) and cars were moving out of my way 50-100m ahead to create a lane down the middle. Every single one of them.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
To be fair I've never had anyone deliberately block me (at least I don't think so) and a few will move to give me more room, but the majority seem oblivious.0
