Can I apply for the same card as my husband?

Apologies. I have another question!

If my husband holds a credit card account in his name (but has allowed me to have a card connected to this account), can I then go and apply for the same card but in my own name?

I understand that one person can not have 2 credit cards from the same company in their name but I'm just a card holder not the account holder.

many thanks

In case computer systems go down, we have cards with different companies - is there a reason that you want a card with the same company?

    I've been Money Tipped!
From what I gather, the current card is in your husbands name and being reported against his credit file, and you are just an authorised second card holder. you wouldn't be liable for any debt on that card. So if you were to apply directly under your own name then this would be your first application to this company, so I don't see any issue, as long as you meet the card issuer's criteria

Although I don't think its correct to say you cant hold 2 cards with the same company, I have 2 Barclaycard platinum cards both with quite high limits. I think the rule is that you cant do a balance transfer between cards of the same company

Yes - I am looking for good 0% transfer deals to move cc debt around to help us pay higher interest first and tackle some debt.
My husband has a Barclaycard and they seem to have some excellent long term deals at 0% for balance transfers so I wondered about applying myself.

We do have other cards for the reason you state.

You can get your own card but won't be able to transfer debt from his barclaycard onto it, but should be able for other providers.

    No,
all credit cards state one card per provider per marital bed.
