it looks like I may have convinced the solicitor so claim it on my behalf now, only because I have a friend who's wife works there so she has gone in and spoke to the solicitor for me. this will be the first time they have claimed one, they didn't really have a clue what it was all about and seemed a bit taken aback, I have a feeling quite a few people might get caught out like I almost did in the beginning until it becomes the norm for solocitors to be on the scheme0

They obviously make too much money already. By the sounds of it you do the legwork and they type a couple of details in online and charge you £60 (or £120 for two) for the privilege0

That's a good result. I must say if it was made clear it was HTB in the first instance I would have been seeking additional legal advice.
Your having to research this and advise them what to do shows a level of ineptitude I expect from the conveyancing industry ...
I see two approaches to becoming a full time conveyancer:
1. Failure...
If you can't become a judge, become a barrister
IF you can't become a barrister, become a solicitor
If you fail as a solicitor, you go into conveyancing.
2. Inexperience
Qualify from your law degree with a third or 2:2, become a conveyancer. Have almost no training and immediately start ruining the property buying process for thousands.
I may be slightly bitter about my own experiences mind you !Hello There. :beer:0 -
