I've got a lap fence around my garden
At the moment it's a reddish brown colour
I want to paint it grey
What's going to be the most cost effective way of doing this? i popped into B&Q to get any idea of products available but left a bit clueless
Any pointers?

Cuprinol garden shades or an equivalent own brand such as willco's will do the job. We've changed the shed and the dog house a few times and they cover well even if the base colour was drastically different. Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

Ah great!
I looked at that, but I thought I'd need more a paint, than a stain0 -
it does both, Im not suggesting a single coat will change drastic colour difference but I went from a red, not sure what treatment is was, to a green in 2 coats. Also a blue to a stone type colour in 3.Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

I've got quite a big garden, so finding decent size tins ain't gonna be fun0

Maybe go with the Wilco version as its a lower cost option and looking at the packaging and final results I wouldn't be too surprised if the cans were filled on the same conveyor belt! Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

Wickes have a deal on that makes Cuprinol cheaper per litre, but not 100% sure on the colour - gonna go and check them out0

Before you paint it you may want to speak to the person on the other side.
Painting a lap fence you will find streaks of the paint make it through to the other side. There are thin gaps and the paint will wick through.
That's fine if they have the same colour on their side - but if not they may be a little upset unless you've discussed it first, regardless that the fence belongs to you.0 -
I've already asked. I'm doing mine first, then he's gonna do his.
I have the non overlapping side so paint will run onto his, but his wont onto mine0
