Why Health Service Professional?

Does anyone know why the DWP refer to Disability Assessors as 'Health Service Professionals'?
I thought they weren't working for the health service?
(I thought they were working for a private company called 'Maximus' with a history of fraud?)

They are generally referred to as "Health Care Professionals", not "Health Service Professionals". They may work for the NHS as well as Maximus, but you are correct that whilst working for Maximus they are not working for the health service as most people would define it.0

Ahh thanks for the correction. But in that case aren't they off duty health care professionals? They are generally referred to as "Health Care Professionals", not "Health Service Professionals". They may work for the NHS as well as Maximus..
To be clearer I refer to them as Maximus DA. Although Maximus seems reluctant to use its own name0 -

HCPs work privately as well as in the NHS. They are not "off duty" whilst working for Maximus.0 -
There is no requirement to work for the NHS to be a 'Health Care / Service Professional'
Vast majority of GPs are privately employed.
Staff employed by private health providers such as BUPA, as fully qualified.
The NHS is just an employer, there is no NHS standard that other providers cannot reach0 -

Not sure, do you have an opinion on the matter at all or just curiosity?0 -

Just curious as to why they can't describe themselves as Disability Assessors.
If I'm a lorry driver and take a part time job driving a bus, I wouldn't call myself a lorry driver whilst I am driving the bus..
There not assessing disabilities though!
They are assessing disabled people on what they can or can't do.
As for calling themselves Health Service Professionals, if they are suitably qualified why wouldn't they call themselves this? It doesn't mean they work for the NHS if they did they would call themselves National Health Service
Professionals.
