in Credit cards
I have a Barclaycard I've used for balance transfers. Because the minimum repayment is quite high (5%), I now have some headroom on the card.
Barclaycard has sent me an offer offering 0% on purchases for 6 months. I think I have about 12 months on the card left to run. What I'm trying to work out is what the credit file impact of taking that up is. The letter doesn't say I'll be subject to any further credit file activity, but I'm unclear what the procedure is.
So is this entirely credit-search free (if I stay within my existing credit limit) or is it better to 'spend' the credit file activity on another card with a longer 0% offer?

Ah, I think I found the sting "When your promotional term ends or if you lose your promotional rate, we'll charge you your standard rate on any remaining balance". In other words, my existing balance transfer (much larger than I'd spend in 6 months) will become liable to interest after 6 months, not 12. Does that make sense that it's designed to take away the current BT deal I have in a subtle way? Or is the existing BT balance kept separate from any purchase balance?0

There's no sting in anyone's tail.
You existing BT is unaffected.0 -
No that's just saying when the 6 months is up if not paid off then you get charged, although you need to be careful as running two promotional rates especially when 1 is shorter than next can lead to missing the end date.
Good luck
