Hi
So during the years of 1998 and 2006 I had a store card with pretty much every shop on the high street and every credit card
Car finance
Barclays loans
You name it I stupidly had it!
Debted up to the eyeballs and no idea if any of these accounts had ppi on which I'm beginning to think may have from what I have read about that time period
Question is without any details for any of the credit accounts how do I start?
I'm considering using a company to do this for me as a busy working mum of two I don't get much time to investigate and it seems quite involved as so many accounts involved
I do remember a fair few of them had ge capital on the header of the statements but can't remember much else
I have my old bank account details and old address
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

A company won't save you any time. However, they will charge you a lot and lower your chances of success.
You need to write to the companies you believe you had PPI with and put forward your reasons for why it was mis sold.
If you're not sure who you had PPI with, then you may need to pay £10 to each to do a SAR.0 -

You need to contact the banks you remember and ask.
If you don't know who the banks were then a claims co won't either, you still gather the info and the claims co posts the form off, the only difference is, the claims co will charge a fee plus VAT if you eventually make a successful claim.
Due to the years and having no info, any claim will be a long shot in the first instance.
Try the banks first and take it from there, the car finance PPI would have been through a Dealer, you need to contact the them, if it was pre 2005, they would not have been regulated so a claim will not be upheld.0 -
Yah the car finance was with black horse and I'm sure that was pre 20050

That would work out very costly 🙈🙈0

Just phone the banks and ask.0

Re store cards from back then this might interest you:

The Santander > FOS > Genworth route is currently proving successful for those reclaiming store card PPI.
Santander's PPI team can often provide the account details over the phone. Genworth, the underwriter's address is on the link. They have taken on the historic liability for store card PPI from the then Arcadia Group of stores (DP, Burtons, Top Shop, Debenhams, etc). Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -

Second instance this week of a new poster joining the forum only to copy and paste parts of the existing thread.
Suspect this is a potential spammer building up his post count....0
