Tuesday 17th May - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning all, lovely morning.
I have had to kit the kids out with smart clothes for a family party on Saturday. DS2 still needs footwear. OH bought himself a suit in Primark but the trousers dont fit so we have to go back tonight and change them (50 mile round trip). I need to make sure we are fed before we go so we dont need to eat out.
But before that I have both jobs. I was working out petrol costs yesterday and I am going to try and cut down the number of times I go into job no. 2 and try and work from home a bit more.
Need to update spreadsheets but that might not get done today.0 -
Morning all :hello:
Thanks for the start Clootiesmum.
I'm still horrifically busy, and have had another day of not wanting to get out of bed this morning. I went to bed at 10pm last night and almost straight to sleep - then woke up at half one feeling quite poorly. Was up for an hour. I'm up and about but already feeling a bit stressed. Thanks for the book advice LaE - I'll look into it for sure.
Today's plans are small:
:cheesy: check banking and PAD
:cheesy: aim for nsd
:cheesy: 10000 steps
:cheesy: full day of teaching
:cheesy: mark a set of books
:cheesy: try not to stress
:cheesy: plan all meals
:cheesy: crochet
:cheesy: get an early night
:cheesy: try for a work/life balance somewhere...
Have a good day everyone :hello:Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Photo some bits to put on fleabay
Go for a walk
Text friend and see if she would be prepared to go to a shop in her town and get me a top and post it to me. If she is call shop and reserve and post vouchers (saves me a 50 mile round trip!)

DNMS - Sorry to hear about contentious meeting & cancelled interview is v poor show. No excuse for failing to inform people in this day & age of speedy electronic comms. Mr f had a 44 mile round trip for a training seminar last week. He set off really early as had heard parking really bad. Still no parking spaces when he arrived so he spent ages finding street parking then on arriving at Reception with a few other delegates, was informed no course here....venue changed but not everyone had been told & as the changed venue was 25 miles away & involved crossing city centre at rush hour, it was pointless trying to get to it!! Like your interview cancellation, it just needed 1 tiny email or text!!

Morning all
Thanks for the start Clootiesmum
((Hugs)) to those who are feeling stressed or down
Stuck in waiting for a parcel AGAIN - not sure we will be ordering from this firm again, with their 'next day delivery'! Still, making the most of the time confined to base. So far I have:
Cheap porridge breakfast
OH is out, so did a very quick hike round the block with the dog - proper walk later when OH is back to wait in for his bloomin parcel - assuming it doesn't appear this morning.
Posted a small ebay sale while out - every little helps, right?
Listed a couple more items before I lost the will to live
Cleaned bins and washed down the area of path where the dog likes to wee
Stripped off beds, washed the linen. Waiting now for the machine to stop so I can peg it all out on the lineTypically, the weather is supposed to change today
Still to do:
Get that washing out! Got it dry BEFORE it poured with rain!
HM meals from stores for me - OH usually has a cheap lunch out on Tuesdays at his golf club (it is cheap too, he usually shares a bowl of chips :rotfl:) leftovers for my lunch and I will cook us both something for dinner as usual, Devoid of inspiration today though, so it will end up being macaroni cheese or something like that! Pasta with cheese sauce, grilled tomatoes and peas. All storecupboard stuff, did the trick
Water anything that needs it in the garden later See above!
More ebaying if I can bear itListed a couple more bits, no more sales so far today though
Clean something Just a quick tidy round
Declutter something Listed a couple of small bits
Pay milk bill Done
Not spent anything :T
Found 1p when I walked the dog :rotfl:
Planted out the tomatoes in their big pots. Prepared more big pots for the French beans
Gave the neighbour and her Mum and sister the few tomato plants surplus to requirements, plus one of the 3 trays of petunias that soon need to be planted out
Right, that machine has stopped, so off now to get the washing out! Have a good day all!0 -
Morning Frugalistas,
Here is today's list:
*Last laundry of the week done overnight on cheap tariff, 30 deg. All pegged out in the fab sunshine.
*Watered veggie garden.
*Made big stew with last of the rubber chicken, l/o veg & gravy & some of the stock I made yesterday. Froze rest of stock.
*Was strict with cat who has returned to usual breakfast shennanigans. Half a pouch chopped up with last night's wasted meat.
*Finish library book which has been recalled.
*Cut more salad & radishes for dinner.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Planned afternoon in greenhouse getting cukes & aubergines into their final places & putting cuke frame together.....made from 2 repurposed plastic pipes!
*Might plant out some more bedding plants (mostly from free seed) if I have time.
Oh....& the pizza I made using soda bread dough as a base yesterday cos I'd run out of yeast? It was really nice! Have frozen 4 slices for picnics.
I haven't forgotten I am supposed to be posting a couple of recipes for people.
