Best Card for foreign transactions

Hi, made a booking for a holiday direct and got stung with a foreign exchange fee, what's the best card for free transactions?

Getting good results with Halifax Clarity, which comes as a MasterCard.


I also have a Saga Platinum, which comes as a VISA.
Just in case they take one, but not the other.
You do have to be over 50, though.

cool thanks, as Im not over 50 just yet the clarity seems to be the best bet, although I also naively assumed that mastercard and visa were always accepted, so will check first.

There are other options, nationwide select is fee free on purchases abroad, and a debit card with their flex plus account gives fee free atm cash withdrawals.

For a prepaid solution I recommend Revolut. You can be ready to make a fee-free overseas purchase at the interbank exchange rate within minutes, by signing up on the smartphone app, loading with your debit card then paying with the virtual MasterCard.
