Buying in spain

Following divorce I want to, with my best friend, relocate to southern spain and maybe run an inland B&B. I work from home on the internet so have a large amount of stock I'd want to relocate too

What area in southern Spain would be bet to relocate to with a budget (cash) of £150-200K?

Just can't decide whether to be nearer to Murcia or gibraltar. Know we will get more value for our money inland but what area would be best to look at?

I've never been to southern Spain so of course will have to learn the language etc etc. What areas would be good for inland rural tourism?

Perhaps wait and see until the result of the EU referendum is known at the end of June.

Can't help with your buying question, but where do you sell most of your stock to? If it's to the UK then I doubt you will make as many sales when you start shipping from Spain. If most of your customers are other European countries then you should be ok.

and you've never been to Southern Spain? What makes you think then its such a good area for the type of business you want to open? I would think at the least a few trips over there to see what it is like. Its a huge area to cover

I'm guessing that because they said they "work from home on the internet", that they sell goods remotely and ship them out. This may not be location dependent unless a large proportion of the customers are based in the UK.
  • Why would you want to relocate to somewhere you've never been? I would think a lot of research and several visits would be in order before you even go any further. Random strangers can't advise you because no one knows what sort of places you like, how remote you would want to be etc etc etc. Southern Spain is a large area.

I think the OP has been watching too many 'lets move to somewhere in the sun' TV programmes.

They need to visit both summer and winter to get some idea of the climate etc. and things like availability of post offices to post items, transport, nearby shops...I could go on.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

I think this question is best directed to an ex-pat forum - quite a few if you Google it.

£150k would get you more in Murcia region than Gibralter. Value for money around Malaga/Nerja I am not sure, the weather in the south is better than the weather around Murcia, we still get plenty of cooler days in the winter around Murcia.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that skid112 was referring to the OP maybe starting up a B&B in Spain and if so, this is something that will be very dependent on the locale.
