Speeding fine has wrong name
My partner was caught with a police speeding gun about a month ago. He didn't know until the letter came through the post which he signed and sent back admitting to the offence.
Yesterday another letter came through the door from the police regarding the offence but instead of his name it has the name of a woman on it.
Does anyone know where we go from here? He doesn't want to just pay in case he ends up paying this womans fine.
Has anyone come across anything like this before?

Sounds like a mess up somewhere down the line, best to give them a call in the morning and get it sorted.0

Why did he open mail addressed to someone else?
Reseal it and send it back marked "Not known"0 -
Any incorrect details on a parking fine notice nullifies the fine, but I'm not sure about speeding fines.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

It is all very well ignoring things or sending them back but in many cases a different name doesn't automatically mean you can just walk away from this. The experts at these questions are here:

No, they can rectify it under the slip rule.0 -
Not true. Only court issued documents can be amended under the "slip rule", a NIP/S.172 request does not fall under this.Silver-Surfer wrote: »No, they can rectify it under the slip rule.0 -

Looks like he's already had and responded to the 172.0 -
What does the letter actually say?
Is it a COFP or what?0 -

As will I.
If something is addressed to my house but with an unknown name on it, I always open it to make sure that nothing dodgy is going on like someone else using my address for setting up fraudulent credit accounts or similar things.0
