Question re ESA and gift from parent

Hello all
Quick question. I'm on conts based ESA and PIP standard daily care (no income related eligibility due to FT working partner)
Mum has had a big win at the bingo and wants to give me some money as we're currently having an accessible wet room installed for me.
Do I need to tell ESA about this? I'm quite happy to tell them- I've nothing to hide but I'm not sure if I need to let them know. It would be £600 she's giving me.
Thanks

no need to tell them.
cont based isn't affected by capital, but income related wouldn't be affected by suchh a small amount either. it is only affected by capital over 6k0 -
I'd tell them just to be sure, and especially as they say to let them know of any change in circumstance etc, but it'll be fine. I inherited £3,000 and there was no problem with that at all x0

This is not correct advice. When you apply for contribution based ESA - capital is not asked about. This is because its not relevant to contribution based ESA. If you call the call centre trying to tell them about a change that is completely irrellevant - then you only confuse the issue. Its vital when claiming any benefit to know EXACTLY what changes are relevant and what are not and to get it right.Stuck on the carousel in Disneyland's Fantasyland

Thanks everyone, sorry it took some time to come back. I didn't think such a small amount would be relevant but thought I would check before I rang up.

Your mother could simply pay the plumber/tiler and the money would never have been yours at all?:)0

She's 200 miles away so that would be a logistical nightmare! My partner is paying for the modifications and he works full time so I suppose she could give the money to him- hadnt thought of that one.Your mother could simply pay the plumber/tiler and the money would never have been yours at all?:)*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
