Well when people think it's funny and okay to harm other living creatures I lose all humour. I find the post offensive.
Where has anyone on this thread said it's ok and funny to harm other living creatures?
If they did, I'd be shouting at them too as I've been a veggie and animal rights supporter for nearly 40 years.
No animals were harmed in this thread and the subject matter is useful to vegetarians - a win-win.:hello:0 -
But someone still finds it funny to comment on eating a human...My debt free diary

Really? So, now you're changing your reason for taking offence?
I think sometimes when something is really important to us then we can become hyper-sensitive and read things into comments that are based on our views but the other person meant absolutely no offence.
Re-read it - you'll see that there's nothing sinister there.:hello:0 -

.
That vegetarians hear over and over and over until there is no humour left, just relentless lack of empathy.
It might have been funny in 1980. It's not any more2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
I'm afraid I too gave up my slow cooker. I do rice pudding grains and chickpeas in a thermal bag, but as veg cooks so fast, the SC wasn't earning its cupboard space.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000

Thanks guys...might do a rice pudding and chilli sounds good(not at thesame time !!)
Not going to bin it just yet!!
Have a yearning for butternut squash, so might do a risotto with that as well.
P.s would you worry about the food miles for a national vegetarian......... or should you try and find a locally sourced one!!:rotfl:Best headline ever on local paper??

Nope... still the same. Someone is making fun of eating something that was once alive.
People think it's funny to make fun of vegetarians/vegans but it's not. I don't make fun of people who drive a silver car for example so why make fun of people who don't want to eat dead things? I drive a silver car fyi which is why I chose that example.
The humour loses it's effect when it's the billionth time you've heard and been offended by it. I don't mock an omni's views so don't mock me.My debt free diary

Well, just to give another viewpoint - I've been a veggie (also avoiding eggs, milk where possible) and an animal rights supporter for four decades... even before it became mainstream... yet I don't find comments like the one earlier in this thread offensive.
It wasn't even questioning vegetarian lifestyles, ethics or motivation - it was just a play on words.
But, hey, maybe I just have a higher tolerance for such things.:hello:0 -

Hi!
I'm not a vegetarian, but my son is, and as I also believe in buying locally sourced meat raised with high welfare standards, the cost implications mean we eat much less of it so I do lots of veggie meals.
I have a slow cooker and I use it for everything! You don't need to find recipes specifically for vegetarians. For instance, one of my favourite slow cooker meals is a recipe for beef & barley casserole which I make using Linda McCartney Sausages with Red Onion & Rosemary instead of the beef. My husband - who is usually a bit less keen on veggie substitutions - always asks for seconds!
Depending on which slow cooker you have, you can also use it for lots of desserts. My OH gave me a Tefal Multicooker for Christmas (he had been paying attention to months of heavy hinting!), and it's really versatile. I recently got round to trying one of the cake recipes that came with it, and I have to say it was probably the best sponge cake I've ever made - and really simple too
Good luck!0
