how to maintain laptop battery?

Hi
What are your opinions on how to maintain a laptop battery to ensure long life?
I have a new Toshiba satellite laptop that has a non removable battery. its a lithium ion battery.
At the moment I charge it fully, then disconnect from mains till it has only 20% charge left then I connect it back up to the mains. I do this about twice a day depending on usage.
If I'm doing something that uses more battery power then once the battery is fully charged I leave the charger plugged in which can be for up to 2-3 hours.
The battery does not over heat as I use a laptop cooler regularly.
Any other hints or tips ? is it ok to leave the charger in once the batteries full ? or is better to let the battery run down then re charge numerous times a day?
Many Thanks
