I'm thinking about going camping for a couple of nights this week to get out of the wife's hair and was thinking would others go camping on there own?
I have looked at Haven camping and they do 3 nights for £15 so nice and cheap but if you had seen someone camping on there own would you think that was strange?

Not strange at all, I have a close friend who sometimes packs his bag and disappears for a few days at a time. Leaves his means of contact (mobile, laptop, etc)
He always comes back refreshed, with a new mind and a new meaning. He's not religious or spiritual but he does enjoy his own company from time to time.
Let me just tell you one thing, if you do go alone then don't forget toilet tissue (or you may be using nettles) and take something to entertain you while you're resting 0 -

Many thanks for that and yes will take loo roll as had a problem when I went camping with my wife years back.
It's a Haven site at Scarborough that I'm looking at going so will have the evenings inside at least.
Just hoping it won't be too busy as kids still at school.0 -
I regularly camp on my own and enjoy it. Most of the solo campers I meet tend to be interesting people. Many are attached but enjoy their independence. I avoid the family focused sites and school holidays as when you are on your own being surrounded by groups or families can be surprisingly noisy and you can feel like an outsider although I have never been made to feel unwelcome.
If you're happy doing what you are doing no one will care that you are on your own. Leave your self consciousness at home with your wife0 -
I've been camping on my own a few times, I always took and a book, but most of the time u ended up mingling with other people.0

Well made my mind up and going to Haven at Scarborough for 3 nights tomorrow.
Hope the rain stays away.
Does anyone know what the camping part is like there?0 -
A friend does this all the time, he often goes to meetings organised by the lightweight campers group of the camping and caravan club. See http://www.lightweightcampers.org.uk/0

We stayed at a Haven site and they are really geared up for people renting the chalets. There was a small patch of barely grass that everyone drove past and I could not recommend it for camping at all . There are much better options0
