Car bonnet will not open

Hey everyone

Just wondering if anyone on here had experience of this...

It seems that the bonnet cable has snapped or broken somewhere under the bonnet, therefore I cannot open my car bonnet. Changed the hand release , as initially thought that was the problem but even with the new one its the same

I have made the first available appointment with Halfords Autocentre for Tuesday, but due to go in holiday on Wednesday, hence I am worried will they be able to fix it.
It is a VW Touran, and I tried contacting VW directly but their first appointments are not until 23rd!
I know all cars are different, but has anyone been in this situation, and were they able to fix it without damage?

You may need assistance to disengage the mechanism manually by hand from underneath or a long lever with the second person taking the strain off the catch.

Personally, I would give Halfords a miss for something such as this.
I wouldn't be surprised if the mechanic has never come across this problem on a Touran before and who knows what they may try to get the bonnet open.
As the VW main dealer is fully booked, you might be better off seeing if you can fin a local independent VW specialist and give them a call or maybe try a VW dealer a bit further afield.
