I have a light that needs a 2D ENERGY SAVING LAMP (GR8) 4 PIN bulb, however there don't seem to be many available. There are lots of 2D ENERGY SAVING LAMP (GR10) 4 PIN available. Does anyone know what the difference is please. They can have the same dimensions but I can't work out how they differ. Any advice would be gratefully received. Can I use the GR10 in my light?

I have 2D CFL 2 pin at the moment. I come to conclusion that it is not worth my hassle to change as I need to change the fitting...
BTW, I haven't seen LED replacement for 4 pin 16W 2D0 -
GR8s still seem to be available.

Thanks, this is the only one I could find though, hence my question about using a GR10:wave:0 -

i believe GR8 are 2 pin and GR10 are 4 pin lampholders so on that basis, no, they are not inter changeable.
pop along to one of the many electrical wholesalers locally around (they will all serve the public (CEF, Edmundsons or independants). these lamps are freely available.0 -

Sound expensive. they are under £3 at toolstation/ screwfix
How many Watt of your existing bulb?
the size of the bulb could be different.0 -

Others (cheap chinese ebay type?) involve a little bit more (basically cutting and connect power straight too base ) but if unsure check with a qualified person

And base guide which may help some

My existing bulb is 28W. Never thought about screwfix....could'nt see the exact one but gave me the idea to email them for advice...so thanks for that. Had the fitting quite a while so perhaps they've stopped producing GR8 4 pin. I still have the box and instructions though.:wave:0 -
I think GR8 refer to 2 pin, GR10 refer to 4 pin??
correct me if I am wrong...
this is probably what you need.

Watch the video here, make sure you are willing to rewire before purchase (that is the reason i stick to CFL at the end)

2D lamps use either the GR8 (2-pin) or GR10q (4-pin) connector.
The example I gave is available in both base fittings GR10q / GR8 but at a cost??

The example you gave is only available in GR10q 4pin
