Hello!
Wondered if people could give me recommendations for a new laptop -
Need 1 TB of storage min.
Would like to have a dvd rewriter for creating my own dvds
Prefer windows as that is what I am used to presently.
Needs to have an excellent battery as it will be used not plugged in to the mains.
I wont be playing games on the laptop as this is not important to me - it is more of a web browsing + skyping/little bit of word processing/home movie creating type of laptop.
Thanks!

Screen size ?
17 inch would be preferable ......
DVD or BlueRay player ?
You should be looking at at least 4Gb RAM -Preferably 8Gb
Processor - Intel i5 or equivalent
I would avoid Acer - they are not built very well
Try Asus or Lenovo - they are OK
Home movie editing can be quite processor intensive but web browsing is not - you need to decide what your priority is and purchase accordingly
Battery life is a complex question - if you treat a battery right - it may last you for years but if you over/under charge it - it may lose its ability to hold a full charge extremely fast !
Perhaps someone else can advise further ?0 -

May be this
£320
Lenovo B51-80 Intel Core i5-6200U 4GB 1TB 15.6" Windows 10 Home
This may not meet your battery requirement (5 hrs enough?), but it is reasonably priced0 -

I would avoid these if possible; otherwise in 2 or 3 years you may end up with a perfectly serviceable laptop which is hampered by the battery being worn out, but which you can't easily replace.
How many people actually buy a new battery to replace the one which gave up?0 -
Since most laptops are used under mains power, because the battery has given up over a small number of years, it doesn't really matter if the battery is swappable or not.Needs to have an excellent battery as it will be used not plugged in to the mains. How many people actually buy a new battery to replace the one which gave up?0

Any screen size around 15" would be fine.
Don't need blueray - just DVD. Use windows live moviemaker at the moment to make home movies.
As for battery life - what I meant (but maybe didn't explain properly) was how long you can use the laptop before it needs charged again.0 -

Will have a look - 5 hours battery life should be OK as long as I can get this!0
