                    Hi,
Thinking of going over to Dublin for a birthday and taking the people carrier. Where is the best place to get prices for this? I tried a few websites and they where coming out at £500 + just for 6 in a people carrier. Surely this can't be right.

Ah right I see, apologies brain not in gear (day off work). We will be looking at going from 05/10 to 08/10.0 -
            Its a complete rip-off
We breifly looked at ferry for 4 people in a Polo across from Liverpool. £440.
We are now flying on ryanair for 1p each way plus tax (total £20) and renting a car from the airport.
Ford KA, £20 ish a day.
No way we were paying that much, the ferry was about 8 hours I think as well compared to 45 mins on the plane.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -
            Hehe it's ok
We can all get that way sometimes.
OK...I found a Renault Espace which is a 7 seater and it's £210 (Europcar) way better than £500 quid that's for sure! I found thru here https://www.airline-network.co.uk/CarHire
I also found a nice rate of £180 here http://www.car-rental-hire.co.uk/car_hire_liverpool_airport.htm
afix the pick-up location and dates etc. and then in your results look for where it says "Group SP" under the pic of the car/van. It'again a 7 seater.
If you don't want to leave from the airport... try this link
http://www.car-rental-hire.co.uk/bookingtown.htm
Hope this helps ya.

Do you need to travel on the Ferry from Liverpool? You could drive to Holyhead and catch the Ferry from there, both Stenaline and IrishFerries sail Holyhead to Dublin.
It's all very well people saying a flight only takes 45 mins but what about travelling to the airport, checking in, security, baggage recalim etc etc

Well a quick look on poirishsea.com and it came up with £350 return for a "high car" and 6 people during the day, during the week, from liverpool. I wouldn't say that's too bad, works out as £30 per person each way without even counting the car! That's cheaper than cal-mac to stornoway!
Just search about online aswell, the main ports are liverpool, holyhead, or stranraer, cairnryran and troon up in scotland.
The cheapest time to go is prolly mid week during the night. Also the fast boats like the HSS will cost a good few quid more.0 -

But not for much longer.
