Do Aldi accept over the £30 limit?

I think this depends on the store, as I have had no problem in one Aldi nearby using Apple Pay above £30. However an Aldi store a few miles away had a £30 contactless limit on it. In this store the card reader terminal did not offer any form of contactless above £30. This was a fairly new store I was at a few months ago, so may have been updated now, to allow Apple Pay transactions above £30.

Anyone paid over £30 in Sainsbury's? They say on Twitter they do but the last time I tried a couple of months ago it didn't. Not spent that much there since but have noticed receipt says device verified.

Also, Ikea take payments over £30.

Used Apple Pay today in Sainsbury's Leicester to pay £39- no problems.

  • John Lewis and Waitrose both accept unlimited transactions.

Purchased an iPad with it not too long ago!

Great! Thanks for that. I can forgive the long wait since they've implemented it right.

Interesting, which branch? Must be a trial as I can't see anything online about a roll out.

You're welcome :) I was surprised but grateful- I usually try to stick to smaller transactions as I can't use C&P.

It's my understanding, and experience, that Apple Pay can be used up to your daily cash withdrawal limit. That's what my bank told me and I've certainly used it for something costing upwards of £100.00.

Apologies, my post wasn't clear. I was wondering which branch of John Lewis has contactless enabled.

RE the limit - in my experience with TSB it's not limited to cash withdrawal limit. Also used it with Tesco Bank credit card for a purchase of £1000+. Perhaps this varies by bank. I can't understand why they would have such a limit in place though.

Was in West Quay Southampton last week, no contactless. They have a Little Waitrose in there as well which does contactless but you can only pay for Waitrose stuff in there.

I have paid more than £1,000 with Nationwide Select and Santander Mastercard on my Apple Watch. My first attempt with Nationwide was blocked though and I had to call Nationwide which was a bit of a palaver.
