Hi folks
I'd like to get the higher rate for the mobility component of PIP. I have schizophrenia, depression, and chronic pain preventing walks over a certain distance.
What I need is example answers to Q13 and Q14 on the PIP application form.
Can you help me please?
Many thanks!

The answers need to be specific to you. Answer the questions honestly and if your condition varies then explain how it affects you on the different days. You also need medical evidence to support what you state.
If unsure you can ask for help from CAB or another welfare rights organisation.0 -
MIND were brilliant at helping a friend of mine who is bipolar complete her paperwork and even arranged for someone to take her to the medical.
Some of the different disability/disease charities have free guides to filling in the forms.. they dont give you an answer to copy as that would be dishonest but they do explain the questions and give suggestions of what you could include in the answer.
This form isnt a test in your writing ability .. so dont worry about writinga formal answer just explain how your symptoms effect yor ability to go out/mobilise.0 -
hello,
the way i understand things, is that the mobility component is in reference to physical (not psychological) illness (i.e. sight / hearing / limbs etc).
> so to qualify for the mobility component, you would have to reference the pain caused by mobility, and not the mental illness,
i think HOWEVER, that if you are housebound etc, with depression, mental illness > then you should be eligable for a high point score on "engaging with other people" etc.
i think that is the way things work, but hopefully someone will correct me if wrong,

There are two questions relating to the mobility part, one about how far you can physically walk and one about whether or not you can go out unaided. The second one relates to mental health and is different to the social engagement question, which is part of the daily living section.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Whatever you do don't tell them you're a paraplegic as no one seems to understand what that means and you get 0 points.0
