Camera for School Trip

Hi

I'd be grateful if anyone could help please. I have an old camera an Olympus μ digital 800. However the memory card has gone missing. I don't know anything about memory cards - can anyone advise what kind I need to buy please?

Alternatively if the memory card is going to be expensive, can anyone recommend a cheap camera please - nothing fancy as it's just for a school trip.

Thanks

  • It takes xD cards, a format which was discontinued a while back. 2GB was the highest capacity available.

You can still get the cards on places like Amazon.

According to this page http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympusstylus800 it requires an xD memory card. You could try Amazon.

You might want to check first that the battery is still capable of holding a charge.

You can use a microSD card with a £5 adaptor, then use the MicroSD card for something else (common in phones) after, or fit it into a micro-SD/SD adaptor for easy use in a laptop.

Thanks - I looked at the xD memory cards and they are around £18. In view of that and how old the camera is (over 10 years old), I'm thinking I might be better in buying a cheap camera?

In fairness, if you're feeling so inclined, it's a good reason to get a new one - technology has advanced rather a lot in the decade

Product is shown as discontinued at Maplin, but they are available on eBay.

Still, it's the perfect camera for a school trip. If it gets lost or broken it's not a tragedy and it will still take excellent photos.
