Well, I will continue to report any ratbag who makes an invalid retraction on MY listings

No-one put a gun to OP's bidder's head! They should think a bit more carefully next time before bidding... remember the bit that says 'commit to buy'?My TV is broken!

i would tell him you will give the next nearest bidder second chance offer when the time's up.... if he doesn't know ebay that well you can pretend you don't either.
Assure him you won't expect him to buy the item if he is still winning bidder......
and if Ebay question your actiosn, play dumb!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Exactly - but there is another thread somewhere, where the second highest Bidder was trying to haggle the price as the original high bidder had inflated it, before pulling out.
I'm with you, FF, but then there are people who like to argue over VERY petty things.... ahem<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Thanks for the responses everyone. It did occur to me at work that I could just tell him that if anyone pulls out that I'd just ignore his bid and sell to the next highest bidder. If I cancel his bids then the current price will lower by £50. However, it's pretty unlikely that it would sell for that lower price and I'm currently thinking that if I do cancel his bids and the price lowers then other new bidders will come along and bid at the lower price whereas they may be priced out at the moment. So the current plan is I will cancel his bids, but I'll have a think about while I make/eat my dinner before actually cancelling them. I'm still hoping someone will outbid the current price and sort the problem out for me.0
