Renault Megane CC Electric Issues_Help!
Hi. Hope someone may be able to help. I have a 2008 Renault Megane Cabriolet and the car is currently driving me crazy.
I think it the electrics may be the issue or at fault here.
The drivers side window will not roll down, the heaters and the horn don't work and now only one of the rear tail lights is on, weirdly, when the brake is down, the brake lights come on as normal. (3 bulb)
The fuses for the window and horn etc are fine.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as I know Renault Dealers are A: Useless & B: Will charge a fortune.

Windows are a common Megane fault - it's usually the control unit in the driver's door switch unit. Replacement is pretty cheap & straightforward - plenty on Ebay etc.
Likewise, the heater is a common issue: It'll almost certainly be the thermal fuse / resistor pack: Very cheap to replace in terms of parts, but a bit fiddly to access.
Not sure about the horn - could be the horn itself, but impossible to say without looking.
I would say that the bulb is either just blown, or possibly a bad earth in the tail light unit.0 -
There's a common issue with water ingress into the electric junction box/fuse box under the plenum chamber. You may find it is that. If it's not too far gone corrosion wise, disconnecting, cleaning contacts and reconnecting may help. And check the plenum drains are clear while you're there.0

I would advise going to the Renault forum to ask for advice, there are lots of sections there that may be of help.
If you need to take it to someone look for an independent Renault specialist near you which would be cheaper than Renault.
I'm on my 4th Renault and have not had any electrical problems with any of them but I know it can be costly, it's worth going through the Renault forum so that you may have a rough idea of what it is first.
I have always taken my cars for servicing, mot etc to the independent specialist and always happy with service received.0
