Best Video Editing Sites for absolute beginers

Hey Guys

My son plays football. He needs to have his 90minute matches edited to show his action clips. Problem is I cannot afford to have anyone do this and don't know anyone who could do it for me/us. So I have decided to have a bash at it myself, but I don't have a clue where to start.

I have tried to research this area, but to be hones im finding it abit of a minefield.

Please could someone direct me to a video editing site that is for complete novices.

I have a slow running pc and Ipad available to try and make a start.

Thanking you in advance

Slow PC's and video editing don't go together. I have not tried an iPad for for video editing but there are quite a few apps available.

If you go the PC route try Movie Maker first,it's free and it will give you good insight into the basics
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/movie-maker ........there are loads of You Tube tutorials on how to use it.

Start with Windows Movie Maker as above - a 90 minute source video file is likely to be a large file, and iPad memory is probably more limited than hard drive space on the PC.

WMM is about as basic and hand-holding as you can get, it makes a lot of assumptions for you, but should be able to do all you need with the of search for help if you're unclear. Under the covers, what it's doing is actually rather complex, so it's good to simplify the learning by starting with it and then working up only if you need to.

Hiya, I had the same problem, a 30 min cctv mp4 file (size 250mb) that I needed to trim into blocks of (example) 3 mins.
I found a programme called Free MP4 Splitter and it does the job that I need.
It's very easy to use, you just need to know what time you want the split clips to start and finish at.
Alternatively, it lets you split the file into 3 or 4 equal size files.
