Washing machine changeover

It's been a lot of lugging/leverage/trolleying for this female nearing 70 and kitchen floor is now mopped up:D after removal of ancient hot and cold fill model.
Yes, I had googled, read, watched youtube, turned everything off, but very hot water still gushed out, all cleared up now.
Then manoeuvred new-to-me cold fill machine in from garden. So, the hot fill from the previous machine will need to be capped off.
Plugged in, machine controls sing and dance, seem ok. Will leave it unplugged until plumbed now.
[I am fairly DIY handy and enjoy being so, have to be - living alone, fairly rural.]
Shall I retain the old blue cold water infill hose and re-fit it?
Is it something I should not attempt?
All helpful and steady advice would be really appreciated.
B&Q et al can easily be passed en route to dump 1st thing demain.
Thankyou.

In terms of using the old cold fill pipe, most manufacturers don't recommend it, but it has been done in the past (I've certainly done it, and am still here to tell the tale!).
However, I will say that a pipe that was originally with the first machine (and thus "ancient" by your words) is likely to have been weakened from the constant surges of water pressure when the machine is in use. If it's that old a pipe, then replacement would be a wise idea - most machines come with the necessary hoses for installation, anyway.PLEASE NOTE:

Thankyou CrazyRed.
I will call at B&Q en rte>dump so they can supply correct cap as old machine will be on board. Will photograph current new-to-me machine and relevant apertures for hose/bits as necessary. Little rubber band bits sloshed out during first wet episode.
Will see if someone quasi-local can finish job in morning. About to be away for 6 oily rag weeks, so don't want to risk ghastlies during absence.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

That's another listing for the same product, but a bigger washer. To my (DIY competent-ish) eyes, this looks the better one of the two. Very easy to fit - they just screw on to the end where the hot fill pipe from the old machine was unscrewed from the isolation tap on the hot pipe. I'd then tighten that up around an eighth to a quarter turn with an adjustable spanner, and that would be job done.
Fitting the new cold fill pipe to the end of the pipework, equally, is not a difficult job and well within the skill set of a DIY-er. The drain hose will just either push on to the under-sink fitting or be hooked over into the stand-pipe. Make sure the cold hose is done up tightly, and the rubber washers are in place, turn on water, plug machine in and go.
"Little rubber band bits sloshed out during first wet episode"? What do you mean by that? Do you mean the black rubber washers that are normally fitted inside each end of the fill pipe and provide the seal to the tap and machine? They're easy enough to pop back into place - just make sure they end up flat once reinstalled - and then attach the pipe to the machine and water supply.

You are being very patient, CR - again, my thanks.
No time to order from bay of E - leave Tues[back>enzed for blvd Uncle's 92nd anniversaire:-)] and schedule v. tight as it is. 2 fixed time commitments tmrw.
This is a factor : my inexperience with this one may well cost more time and still require a put-right person,
The little washer bands are like flattened brown rubber bands.

Its a 3/4" female blanking cap you want - they have a rubber inside to seal. Very easy job, just tighten it onto valve.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Brilliant, Mr.G - thank you too:-)

:j:j:j:jTEST WASH UNDERWAY AS WE SPEAK:j:j:j:jWas at dump 2hrs too early apparently, 0700h, so backtracked some miles to B&Q, who DO open at 7.
£8.68 for hose, new clamps, blanking cap - I'm thrilled to bits.
Undersink connection v. fiddly to get at. Lucky to have little old lady hands.
I'm so, so pleased and thank you hugely for your non-patronising, clear and perfect help.
Bless you both. Can start packing now:D............CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

well done, you don't need a plumber for easy stuff like that. I shoud have said the metal blanking cap needs to be tightened with a wrench a bit more than the plastic stuff, hard to describe how tight is tight ... but well done, satisfying job and saved a few £ on a plumber.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Yes, used my smaller adjustable wrench spanner for the blanking cap. Big one wouldn't get in there.

Very well done, Ampersand. Sounds like a good job, well done, and everything's working as expected.
More importantly, a good bit saved on the budget, too, by not having to use a "put-right person"!
Have a safe trip, and enjoy your Uncle's birthday.PLEASE NOTE:
