Blackpool with kids, advice needed

I'm having a long weekend in blackpool with kids for the first time ever.

I've been loads when i was a kid, and as an adult without kids so think i know the place really well, but i started thinking of the bar/louges i used to go to when i was young, where the parents could have a drink/lunch and there was a play area/entertainment for the kids, and can't think of anywhere like that now.

I've all the details on paidfor attractions but would appreciate some help on this. HELP!

Preferably somethere near south pier/pleasure beach, kids are young if it helps.
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

We went to the Tower Circus last week, £15/adult but kids were free with vouchers widely available on here, this Tower ticket gets you the 2 hour circus (which we found surprisingly good for all the family), a trip to the top of the tower , the small aquarium they've got inside, the 3d dinosaur cinema movie, a play area and also a great 'family' bar which had entertainment laid on in, again surprisingly, pleasant surroundings. It's not Disneyworld by any means but that's Blackpool for you but our family had five hours of fun for an average of £7.50 each...... (we could have easily spent that in an arcade in 1/2 an hour)

On the south pier itself they have a family bar called the laughing donkey. It is aimed at families and young children. They usually have entertainment for the kids while the adults can relax!

  • Hi
this is not quite what you asked for, but there's a very good family bar on the North pier. They have the usual Air Hockey & pool tables, but have a 'turn' on most nights too. it's a very comfy bar, and there's a lovely old working carousell outside.

Also, in the Tower, there's a HUGE Jungle Jim - my kids spent hours and hours in there the last time we went.
