Waterproof recommendations please for Motorcyle use

Please could I have some recommendations for waterproof clothing for motorcycle use? A good oversuit or trousers which are light enough to carry without being bulky, but robust enough to last, and also breathable so you dont end up just as wet from sweat! Use would be for commuting. If anyone knows of cheap place to buy links would be appreciated. Thank you in anticipation, Tim

What you really want/need is some decent clothing that is waterproof and gives you protection. I much prefer man made fabrics over leather, they tend to be more practical. The jacket and trousers I currently have are made by swift, jacket was £60 trousers £40. From http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk
Another make to look out for is buffalo. You could also look on ebay, you might even get a decent set of used ones on there.

If you've already got protective clothing but need to cover it with something more waterproof, go down to a local industial clothing/workwear supplier. You'll get some decent suits for £10-£20
  • Textile/Man made clothing is normal the best for what you want, warm, waterproof and breathable, but the problem I found is it tends to be bulky.
The other option is multi layer yourself. something like a windproof underlayer then leathers then a thin, light weight waterproof layer but this is the more expensive way of doing it.

Personally I have a pair of Gor-Tex trousers and a jacket to wear when then weather is bad and a leather set to wear when it is good. I commute 20miles into London everyday.

If there is a Hein Gericke shop near you visit them. They aren't cheap but they will give you some really good advice and if you find something you like in there go home and search ebay and do a google products search for it!

I'd go with Gor-tex too. I have a pair of Gor-tex trousers and they are great. :)

Gortex, if it's for commuting you can put it on over normal clothes, but you really need something with some armouring in it, not just a glorified kagool
