Freestanding Kitchen for cheap?

Hi all - we're hoping to get a new kitchen soon. We're bored of the fitted kitchen (they all look the same, none of which we like) and we prefer the look of a freestanding kitchen which looks like it's evolved over time. Thing is, we don't have time!

Hopefully we'll save on fitting costs but we don't really want to compromise on look. Any ideas on how to get these kinds of units for not too much money?? I've set up some ebay email alerts. Is there anywhere else worth looking?

At my age, freestanding brings 1950s kitchens to mind, when people just bought a piece when needed.


Do people remember the 'kitchen cabinets' with a pull down table in the middle ?

i still have one of the kitchen cabinets (and of course i would love a fitted kitchen!)
