Of course, people won't want to reclaim the claim company fees (that the customer chose to pay) directly from the banks.

"Have you been charged fees on your PPI reclaim? We can help you reclaim these fees (1) with just one simple 'phone call!"

    (1) - fees apply.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

    I think it's unlikely too.

Although hardly crazy, as it's how the CPR currently operates in other areas ie Insurers, local authorities etc pay the success fees of claimants' solicitors on top of damages paid to injured claimants in personal injury matters.

[But of course this has lead to the crackdown on ambulance chasing law firms and a ban on them giving out £ upfront and tablets etc. Even if their annoying TV and radio adverts persist]
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

The complaints processes paid for by regulated companies to allow it to be free of charge to consumer. In respect of these other areas, that is not the case.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

It's crazy when you consider that there is, and always has been, a way for people to complain about PPI for free.

In fact, their bank has to tell them about this free option in their response to the consumer's complaint. They even include a leaflet.

The option? The Financial Ombudsman Service.

That said, I do have some sympathy for some people who've used CMCs. Some people just aren't very savvy. If you think about the elderly or other people who may find managing their affairs a little harder than the majority.

The referral fees being recoverable (or the 25% solicitors' take for new claims) is what I was referring to. As well as Claimants' solicitors claiming success fees on top of their costs which are payable by the Insurers and councils etc.

But yes, you can issue proceedings yourself without using a solicitor, of course.

The MoJ is clamping down on claims management companies in the PI sector now.
