Universal Credit potential overpayment

Hey all, once again I've found myself in a difficult position thanks to good ol' Universal Credit. This morning I checked the bank and found and extra £250, which I'd normally be overjoyed with yet it's only lead to more confusion as I can't tell whether it's been put there by accident or not. Exactly this time last month I rang up to sign off just because I was generally fed up of claiming. The nice enough woman on the other end talked me through everything as they do and advised me I wouldn't get my last payment if I closed it that date. I usually get paid on the 15th and it was the 13th, so she happily chirped up and said that she could close it in a few days . She asked why I was closing it, I explained I was tired of claiming and just didn't want too, but apparently that wasn't a valid reason so I just said I was financially stable, pretty vague and true enough. I got my payment on the 15th of last month and since then have had no further contact making me wonder if she's messed it up. The information was 100% true so I'm feeling pretty safe regarding that aspect and the money's going to remain untouched. However, I've received no letters regarding coming off universal credit, no letters regarding payment, no letters regarding sanctions, no phone calls and I've not spoken to anyone related to the Jobs Club. Currently I'm waiting for a call to tell me I shouldn't have it which would be fine as I could just shoot it straight back or a letter saying a should which would be fab because more money. The main thoughts in my head are it's an overpayment, a final payment or I've not actually been signed off and they're just not doing there job well as they've not seen me, can anybody shed any light on this situation?

Yes, sadly with UC often payments are received when not entitled and some payments aren't received when you are!

You don't 'sign off' UC in the same way you did with JSA.

A claim closes after 6 months of a person starting work.

It closes after 1 month if a self-employed UC claimant fails to report earnings.

Or a UC claimant can withdraw a claim (if you no longer satisfy the gateway conditions such as you receive capital of £16k, become pregnant etc)

So it will largely depend what button the person you spoke to pressed!

If the claim was withdrawn you would receive a letter within 14 days, confirming this.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

I just said I was financially stable, pretty vague and true enough.

You said to the clerk " I am financially stable, pretty vague and true enough"?:)

Or you told the clerk that you are financially stable (as an explanation of the cessation of claim) and are telling us that while what you told her was pretty vague, it is true enough?

I told her I was financially stable. It's true and it was also straight forward enough to not bring up any other questions.
