Reselling wholesale on Ebay

Options
Hello everyone,
I have an Ebay account that I would like to make money from. So far, I have only been selling PC games from a charity shop I work at for around 50p profit a transaction, which is okay, but not when it's only 1 or 2 sales a week. I was thinking about reselling from a wholesale website.

I do not have much of a budget, I only have 100 pounds to live off each week, so I cannot buy in mass amounts of bulk which is where the real profit is at. I am wondering if anyone knows of any wholesalers that would be good for a beginner to build up his money until he has enough to buy in a much bigger quantity. And if you know any items you can buy off Ebay cheap, say from a Chinese wholesaler, and then resell for profit, please share :)

In a word: Cake Mix. This is where all the profit is. If only someone had told me years ago, to get into "cake mix". I would have been rolling in money. You can get "cake mix" really cheap or make it yourself, but get a food hygiene certificate first. And then just watch it roll off the shelves!!! :D:)

In short, no one who has worked hard, done the research and is currently selling on Ebay is going to tell you how to do it and where and what to buy. Just does not make business sense.

And I hope you've already registered as a business with HMRC as as soon as you buy to sell (which you already are) you should be declaring to HMRC

Any wholesaler worth buying off online would have at least £100 minimum purchase, I think you're saying you have a fair bit less than that.
I'd suggest looking for an auction house near you. Check out what they have for sale and something you have some knowledge of and hang around for a good deal. If you find a big auction with a lot of lots and a lot of people and find that prices seem too high, its always worth hanging around until the end to pick up a few good bargains. £10/£20 lots could earn you more than any wholesalers can offer.

It's also worth mentioning that even if someone does give you a wholesaler or two on here that as soon as they are posted here, at least a dozen other sellers will be looking at them and considering buying from them to sell on Ebay.

Do what everyone else does, buy off aliexpress, sell on ebay, fortunes aren't to be earned anymore.

You have to remember that any stock you can buy from a wholesaler (especially one in China) there will be a big seller buying the stock cheaper than you, with lower costs than you and most likely selling cheaper than you can possibly make any profit.

If you want to buy and sell on a small scale then you either need to buy your stock cheaper than wholesalers. If you look on Ebay there is plenty of stuff that has been badly listed which can be brought, listed properly and sold for a profit. However you need to be careful that you do not buy it cheap, simply as no-one else wants it. Or add value to something so you can sell it for more than others. Buying sweets and bagging them up in nice bags to sell as party favours for example.

Really though you will be lucky to find anyone who will tell you what to buy to make money on. As as soon as they do, you become their competitors. There are plenty of ways as a small seller to make a lot of money on Ebay but you need to do your own research and find your own niche.

I'm a business seller and buy my stock from local auction houses and China.

All my items are but it now with free postage.

As a rule of thumb to see if something is worth selling in bulk, I search for
The item on eBay, set filters to uk sellers only, sort cheapest price + postage, first then take a note of the price.

Take 50p or whatever off that price, then multiply it by 0.86, take away your purchase price of the item you want to sell and the postage cost multiplied by 1.1, and there's your profit.

You will also want to factor in a percentage for contingency for if buyers open cases and you have to refund.
