I tried to reinstall Windows 7 on a laptop.
It fails, comes up with message that disk is write protected.
Any ideas what to do to allow the installation.

Forgive me for stating the obvious but are you sure you're not trying to install onto an SD card in the card reader or a pen stick in a USB port? These sometimes show up as drives in the Windows installation if you're not careful.0

It did boot off the Windows 7 installation DVD and I assume I selected correct place to install.0
