Saving for a house (deposit)

Well done Smiley, it's hard but having a target really helps, I quit when having a baby, her health and mine as well as finances were all the reason I needed. We all have our reasons though.
Welcome fairy princess, you certainly are committed! Hopefully some of that can rub off on us (me at least).
Welcome Spongemoon, just discovered Aldi myself! I know what you mean about always seeming to need something, I have a holiday booked for July, thankfully I have plenty of spending money saved up from my old jobs' tips
Just did a shop in Aldi, I usually go to tesco or sainsburys so was pleasantly surprised at the cost difference and the range, quality seems fine.
I've had a spendy few weeks as I've had travel expenses, though I'm hoping as I'm back at work from tomorrow that will all slow down.
Great that I'll be working much closer to home so petrol costs will go down by about £30 - £35 a month which is a full tank for me.
I'm taking baby steps but it's getting there!0 -

Agreed, this is how I'm trying to think now as well0 -
Thanks! I'm going to start putting 40p aside every time I don't have one (rough price of one ciggie if I bought a packet in the shops). So far this morning I've saved 80p and that money is going straight into a tub that my other half will keep and save for me.
He asked me what my dream item for the house would be and I said a dressing table with a huge mirror and all this really girly stuff, so he's said that the money I save should go towards that and nothing else. He knows how to get me focused on something...just don't like handing him my money so he's promised to exchange the money for a cup of tea and some biscuits, which makes it a bit more bearable.
Great on the quit smoking! see my signature :rotfl:Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -

I've put a fitbit on ebay as it was spare, and it currently has 21 watchers! Also a bid of £30 which was the starting bid, so I'm happy, it has 24 hours left to run and I'm really hoping for a bidding war near the end

Anything I get from it will go into the savings pot, so the more the better :money:0 -
I've entered some old textbooks on to We Buy Books and they've offered me just over £40 for them. Going to having another look in the spare room before I agree the sale and that money is going straight into the deposit fund

Wow, well done Smiley!0

They've also got a 10% offer on at the moment, so you get a additional 10% on your sale :T0

Well done Smiley! Excellent idea, i might check them out when I've finished with some of my uni books.
My FitBit just sold on ebay for £64! I only paid £68 for it originally so I'm very happy with that, and it will all go to my deposit fund
