Any 'park home' owners out there to help with housing benefits query?

Hi
I hope I don't sound rude, but I know about the pros and cons of owning a park home, and I'm not asking for guidance with that
I am currently living in my own home which I plan to sell and then buy a park home (as a single occupant)
Currently I receive financial mortgage assistance on the mortgage interest, which has been a huge help as I am disabled, and benefit help is my only money coming in, and will be for the foreseeable future.
Is there anyone in the know out there who is knowledgable in this area please?
I got the jist looking online that I could possibly get help with the monthly pitch fees and still get help with council tax benefit.
Can anyone confirm please, or add to any help I could possibly get?
p.s
If it helps, I receive ESA enhanced rate daily care, and PIP standard rate.
Thank you.

Yes you can get housing benefit to cover monthly site fees for a park home, we do, you can also claim council tax help, you should get 100% of the site fees paid council tax depends on area now, we for example pay £9 a month 2 miles down the road it would be £25 a month.
Theres a great park home forum if you look online for it with lots of help and info.
But keep in mind if you end up with more than 16k profit/savings after selling/buying you won't be able to claim.0 -
That's really helpful, thank you

Do you have the web address of the park home forum you spoke of please? I had a look a while ago for UK one, but don't think I got anywhere.
Thanks again

When I owned one, I always understood that I had to work any job I could find as the home was on a personal loan, so no housing benefit for that - but that the site rent would be paid as that counts as rent.
Mortgages get the mortgage help. Personal loans don't and you couldn't (can't?) buy a mobile home with any sort of mortgage.... but it sounds like you're selling up and paying cash for your home.
Personally I'd not recommend it ... but you didn't ask that.0 -
Thank you

Yes I'll be paying for the home from the proceeds of my house sale.
I know park home living isn't everyone's cup of tea, and there are good and bad sites. I know a couple of people who live in them and have no regrets at all. It really does depend on where you go, and the relationship with the site owners.0 -

It's the longer-term that's the issue - and, even though there's some protection against eviction for residential owners, the site owner CAN sell the whole site and everybody get given notice. That leaves you with a van worth £2-3k that needs moving off the site. The site I was on was cleared about 10 years after I moved out. It's still a residential park, but with expensive/shiny new vans, all laid out differently and has age restrictions.0 -

Derbyshire park home for 5 years now, my best advice is when you find a PH you like talk to as many people on the site as possible before buying see if they are happy with how its managed, I'm sure you already know this but Rightmove is a great place to start, also the monthly park home mag is a great source of help, we get our copy at WH Smith0 -
