Provisional licence

My son applied for a provisional license so he can use it for ID as he will be 18 next week. It has now arrived but has my signature on it as I signed his passport form just before his 16th birthday. I'm sure I wouldn't have signed if I hadn't needed to, and I don't think they would have issued his passport if there was an error, but he thinks it's all my fault. Any help please!?

They use the signature from the provisional form, not from the applicants passport.

But I didn't sign his provisional licence application and it is my signature on the licence that has arrived. He ticked the box that said to use his passport photo, it never mentioned a signature too!
  • It does say tick the box to use the photo and signature from your passport, or at least it did this time last year.

Yes, because he is still under 18 they used both photo and signature which HE gave them permission to do. If he had waited until his birthday - then the signature would not have been necessary.

Of course it's your fault! He's a teen and they will often blame someone else! ;)

Just remind him he is nearly an adult and he can easily sort this for himself. It will be a good lesson in dealing with bureacracy.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
