Related Electricity Meter

I'm trying to switch from Scottish Power and my new supplier told me they couldn't switch my electricity supply because my MPAN is shown on the national database as 'related'. The MPAN is the same as it is on the meter and on my bills. I have called SP numerous times and have now deduced that an internal email has been sent from customer service to a mysterious other department in SP, who then communicate with the MPAN database to request the removal of the 'related' status. Apparently the delay all lies with MPAN. Since I started calling, I have had two visits to the house from SP staff to check the meter... But what no-one will tell me is what I can actually do to make this happen. Can customers communicate directly with the MPAN database? Does anyone have experience that will help me sort this out? Obviously SP have no incentive to help because I'm tring to switch....

Are you on an old Economy 10 package by any chance?
Economy 10 is basically off-peak electricity typically 12am-5am, 1pm-4pm and 8pm-10pm, similar to Economy 7 but different in its timings.
If you have Eco 10, not many suppliers support this so you may need a replacement meter.0
