Which to choose: 4 reg. owners -vs- £300 insurance?

Hi,
Here's a connundrum for all keen motorists.
I've just bought a 56 plate Clio 1.5dci dynamique for a snip of a price. It has less than 4k on the clock, 2 prev. owners. I filled out the V5 when purchased, so it's in my name. However, as I already own & insure a 53 Espace, I'm struggling to find an insurance policy for a keen price, as I can't use my NCD on a 2nd insurance. There are 2 car policies available, but my insurance is paid in full for the Espace thru' to June '08, and will only get a small % refund. My Espace insurer has offered a discount to get the new policy down to £265.
BUT, my BF has rung his insurance co. and they will transfer his insurance over for a nominal fee of £15, and no increase to insure. We can only do this if the car is transferred into his name, which would make him the 4th registered keeper of the 11month old Clio!!
I am concerned that this is a serious depreciation issue for the car (it's worth £8,500), and would throw up concerns for any future owner. Not that we want to part with the car now, but who knows what might happen in the future?
As it is, I know that next year I can insure them both togther for under £500 fullly comp, which I think is pretty good, and that's without shopping around for other 2 car policies.
What would you do, and would buying a newish car with so many prev. keepers make you wary of buying?
Ta very muchly.

You can get the car insured as a second car on a completely seperate policy. If you've 5 years or more NCD, they'll give you a discount equal to the NCD.
I do this. Got my Capri insured on one policy as my main car and a Mondeo on another as a second.
You need to talk to a real broker though. Try Chris Knott.0 -

Why am I not surprised you drive a Capri?0 -

Thanks Conor,
my BF was convinced I was being paranoid about the 4 keepers, and no one else would be suspicious, but I've bought/sold plenty of cars over the years, and know my own radar would pick that up when viewing or considering a car.

2 car policies are a waste of time and won't generally save you money.
Why do you want two cars for yourself? Or more to the point, why did you buy a second car in your own name and not your bf's in the first place?0
