Can someone explain USB3 - USB3 transfer speeds? Something odd!

thanks.
you know, yea you're right. I was happy with 60mb/s after the awful 15mb/s so the 100mb/s for opening a separate programme is a bonus.
like you say, I could spend ages and never find the reason, I've done that lots in the past.
i'll just be happy and leave it be.

out of interest what are others real world transfer speeds using USB3 devices?
I've been transferring data today between two USB3 hard drives and Windows 7 was reporting around 100MB/s, I didn't watch it the entire time but it transferred around 500GB overall in a fairly quick time so it must have been averaging a decent speed.

Physically measure the time taken for the same size transfer in different scenarios. This will give you a proper idea of the transfer speed rather than what the program reports.0
