Car/van/car insurance

Wondered if anyone knows the best way to make the most of our no claims in this scenario:
Household currently has 3 vehicles on 3 different insurance policies.
Car1 owned and insured by A with 8 years protected NCB
Car2 owned and insured by B with 2 years NCB
Van1 owned and insured by B with 8 years NCB (personal use).
Household is buying another van (personal use) which will be registered in A's name. Car1 and Van1 will then be sold, leaving just Car2 and Van2. The 8 years NCB will probably be able to be transferred from Car1 to Van2. However, I don't think we can transfer Van1s 8 years to Car2 but we don't want to lose either of the 8 years NCB. Can anyone suggest the best way to make the most of what we've got? Does it make a difference to price if the policy holder is not the same name as the vehicle owner? We have a week to work it out!
Haven't spoken to our current insurers yet, wanted a head start!
Many many thanks in advance

Will car2 be B's main vehicle ongoing?
If both NCBs have been built up individually then I would have thought that the NCB would be transferrable between a van and a car and vice versa. I just looked at direct line (for example) and it doesn't specify the NCB for a new policy for a van has to be from another van.
I may be completely wrong of course!Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
You can use no claims from your car onto a van but nigh on impossible to use them from the van onto a car.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
