Foreign money refund

While in Mexico I've paid for a trip on my Tesco credit card but the trip has been cancelled and I've been told I'll get a refund. The money was paid in US dollars which means I got a 2.75% charge for using my card abroad. When I get the refund, will I get back what it cost me or will I just get the amount for the trip before the 2.75%? Will I get charged a foreign transaction fee for the refund?
Hope this makes sense.

If you paid say $200 charged to the card you should get $200 back.
You will lose out with the buying and selling of the currency plus any charges levied.
When you crystalize the loss, you can try to call the credit card company; to see if they will refund you but they are not under any obligation to do so.

Thanks. I'll give the credit card company a ring when I get home.
