Virgin Media Default on credit file

back in April 2010 I took out a contract with virgin media, had endless problems with the service. I was experiencing the onset of health issues and had to move house at the end of April 2011 to be nearer my mother who provided care for myself. Due to me spending a lot of time in hospital and unwell Virgin Media was not at the forefront of my mind admittedly, however all post was re directed for a while and no correspondence came to inform me that I still owed money on the account for the final month. The only way that this has come to my attention is because there is a default on my credit report that I recently had done. I immediately phoned Virgin and paid the outstanding money that I owed but explained I received no correspondence or notice that this was the case. I am not awaiting a reply from the credit file amendment team. My health issue has left me with a long term disability and I currently need a clear credit check to obtain stable and adaptable housing. This Virgin Media default is the only bad mark on the file and I paid as soon as I was made aware from the report. It has been on my report for over 5 years without me knowing, however I know it will drop off after 6 years but due to the urgency of needing housing I cannot wait for this to happen, does anyone have any advice please?

1 default wont stop adapted rented housingDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Defaults wont show on tenancy checks, a tenancy agreement is not a credit agreement and as such only public info (e.g. CCJs etc) are shown.0
