Hi,
I used to have a car in my name but had to sell it to go to university. Since then i have been a named driver on both my mums and girlfriends insurance. Last year I had an accident in my girlfriends car when i collided with a moped rider. There was no damage but the rider made a claim against my girlfriends insurance.
I am now looking to buy a car again and need to get insurance. Since I have not had insurance in my name for 2-3 years I have no no-claims. My question is do I need to declare the accident i had on my girlfriends insurance when I apply for my own?
I am a little confused as I actually have 2 years no claims as a named driver on my mums car.
Thanks.

Yes you do need to declare the accident where it asks whether you have been involved in an accident in the last 5 years (or words to that effect)
You do not have 2-3 years no claim as named driver unless your mother has a very rare policy that gives named drivers a no claims award and even then you would have lost it due to the claim on your GF's policy.
BTW I hope your mother declared your accident at her renewal.0 -
Some companies will accept No claims discount for up to 3 years, and most accept it for 2 years.
So you may still be able to use your old No claims bonus0 -

No it won't as it was not his policy, although the accident will need to be declared and will affect the premium.
His GF will have lost hers (or some it hers) as the claim was on her policy0
