When I click on the link in bookmarks for Facebook a page appears with a lot of gobbletee gouch and strange letters
Why is this?
How do I get rid of it?

Hi,
Are you able to access facebook in the normal way (typing address in browser) ?
It sounds like the bookmark is corrupt/not pointing to correct page .
If you tell me what browser you are using (ie, chrome etc) then I can help you re-create the bookmark.

I have tried to access using the bookmark link in firefox but also tried typing Facebook into a google search and got the same result0 -
^^ Ahh - It seems in that case and from what JJ Egan says above that it may be a facebook issue.
If that is the case, I cant see it being down for long ..
